I agreed with you! We should always focus on writing.

But I don’t think these people (I follow some of them) never try to find hacks to gain more readers when they started.

They may not do it now, but I believe that’s a process. The difference of well-established writers is that they know what doesn’t work.

PS: Using emotional triggers is also a hacks to gain more readers.
