Great article! A few add-ons here.
When I started seeing traffic from Quora, I was excited as hell. I was about to write a guide on this, but I didn’t because:
#1 — Growth hacking is not my topic.
#2 — This is a much important one.
I started with the goal of driving traffic to my blog and I have successfully done that. But then I see Quora more as a community. It’s not the place for us (the occasional marketer) to dump something into it and see if it works. It’s a place to contribute, to share, and to inspire.
There are a few downsides if you (not you, Charles Chu; but you who plan to use Quora as a traffic generating tool):
- There are many strict guidelines and terms in Quora, make sure you read them first before you answer any question. I see many great writers got banned by Quora with zero power to undo that. Quora can’t be your sole source of traffic.
- The traffic might not be the type of traffic you want. Brand building works better in Quora than driving hot leads to buy your products. Besides, the two main groups of user on Quora are from the US and India. I’m not sure the acceptance and conversion rate if you’re trying to sell something but I believe they are not high.
- If you’re looking for a quick silver bullet to turn your online business around using Quora, forget about it.
However, there are a few great benefits to contribute in Quora:
- Like Charles said, you’re getting your content right in front of the readers.
- Besides, you are going to learn about your audience more since people are actually asking questions and looking for solutions in Quora already. It’s a great audience and market research platform.
- Brand building.
- Finally, if you consistently generate great answers. Quora team will help you to promote it by publishing them on a few huge publications where most of us have a hard time to get access into. If you include one or two useful links in your answer s— boom! Instant exposure and SEO backlinks!
